Surgery

As long as the tumour is locally limited surgery to remove it can result in a full recovery. But even if the tumour has already reached an advanced stage, surgery can increase the patient’s survival time and improve his or her quality of life. Frequently, surgical intervention is necessary to eliminate tumour-related complications and problems.

If surgical intervention is indicated we co-operate with a team of competent surgeons or refer our patients to the Freiburg University Hospital.

Minor surgery such as laying a central intravenous port-a-cath system is performed in our hospital under local anaesthesia. This permanent intravenous catheter allows the safe and easy infusion of drugs, chemotherapeutical drugs or intravenously administered nutrient solutions.
