Leisure Time Activities

The Hospital SanaFontis is located right in the middle of the beautiful Mooswald that is ideally suited for walking, hiking and bicycling. You can borrow bicycles free of charge from the hospital. In the immediate vicinity you also find the Eugen-Keidel-Mineral-Thermalbad, a wellness spa with its own thermal spring and the widest range of different saunas in the region (you can buy tickets at a reduced price at the reception).

In our hospital a tastefully furnished lounge encourages a friendly get-together of patients and visitors. Here you can play at cards and other games, or watch tv, videos or DVDs. Books can be borrowed from the wards’ libraries.  

The hospital’s Art & Culture Group offers a wide range of leisure time activities like painting, basket making and canasta parties, etc. Furthermore, it organises outings to the surroundings and art exhibitions at the hospital. The declared aim of the members of this charitable organisation is to help patients enjoy life’s cultural diversity in spite of their disease. Please ask at the reception for the programme. 

Popular resorts on the doorstep: Our hospital is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Germany. Surrounded by the southern part of the Black Forest, the Vosges, Alsace and the Markgraefler Land, Freiburg is an ideal starting point for outings and hikes. Among the most popular destinations are the Titisee and the Schluchsee, two beautiful lakes, or the near-by mountains mounts Schauinsland, Schlossberg, Schoenberg, Feldberg, and Lorettoberg.  

Europa-Park Rust, Germany’s most widely known amusement park, is less than 30 km (20 miles) away from Freiburg and offers fun and recreation for all age groups. In the Affenwald you can watch various species of monkeys in the wild, and the Steinwasenpark, a successful combination of nature, wildlife and amusement park set in typical Black Forest scenery, makes for an unforgettable stay. 

Near Freiburg there are also a number of cities worth visiting that are easy to reach by car: Basle, Strasbourg, Breisach, Staufen and, of course, Baden-Baden, legendary for its casinos.
