Pain Therapy
Pain is one of the most frequent accompanying symptoms of a tumour. At the time of diagnosis, more than 40 % of the patients experience pain, and in advanced stages of the disease it is more than 80 % of the patients. Using a modern, holistic pain therapy we can keep our patients pain-free from the beginning until the end of their disease.
Cause and perception of pain differ widely from person to person and may even change during the course of the disease. Consequently, pain therapy, concomitant medication and treatment of the side effects must be individually adjusted for each patient to match the development of pain intensity.
Pain, however, is not only a purely physical experience, it may also be intensified by psychological, social and emotional problems. A modern pain therapy that addresses all these aspects requires a multi-faceted approach.
Depending on the stage of the disease our hospital applies the following methods to relieve pain:
- Pain therapy with drugs (analgesics, opioids)
- Radiotherapy
- Anaesthesiological procedures (neural blockade, regional anaesthesia)
- Physical procedures (physiotherapy, lymph drainage, hydrotherapy, etc.)
- TENS (transcutaneous electrical neural stimulation)
- Acupuncture
- Psychological therapy
